Today we are taking a look at FEXT Hobby's first entry into the 1/12 scale figure market: G01 Naqua! This is the first release in their original "Goddess of Delivery" series. She is a water delivery courier who moonlights as a superhero using her interchangeable armor and transforming scooter! Top points for originality in an incredibly saturated market. It can be hard to get original designs/characters off the ground without previously existing media so kudos to FEXT for taking a chance on this series!

Naqua has 2 main designs. Her civilian form, as a busy water courier in the city, and her alter ego as an armored super hero of hydration!

Naqua is a spunky young girl, with a brilliant plume of blue hair and bright blue eyes. She's clad in black shorts and a crop top which are made of a stretchy fabric, with a safety vest that she wears while on duty. She's also got a convertible gold hair ribbon that can be worn down, or flipped up in a sort of bunny ear fashion.

When it's time to kick butt she dons her battle armor consisting of new shoes, shin guards, thigh armor, a gold belt adorned with a bright blue crustal, forearm gauntlets, and a water themed poncho with another bright blue crystal embedded within the collar.

Her scooter handlebars and seat post can be removed and combined to form a chromed sword, and the front chassis of the scooter can become a shield, that Naqua can use in her heroic endeavors. The handlebar section can also be combined with the included water bottle launcher for a ranged weapon. The rest of the scooter can be converted into a flight pack with wing mounted missile launchers that can be pegged in on Naqua's back.

Naqua is ready to kick evils to the curb and keep us hydrated at the same time. A true hero for the modern era! For a first outing the quality on display is quite exceptional. If I had any critique on the design, the faces are bit overly cartoony/exaggerated for my taste, but that's subjective. If that's the style FEXT is aiming for, they nailed it. It makes their figure stand out next to similar offerings from SHF or Figma, though this could be for better or worse depending on your taste.

If you've handled a modern Figma or SHF offering, you'll know what to expect when it comes to articulation. FEXT Hobby brought a full suite to this offering with very few limitations. If you didn't know this was their first 1/12 scale figure you'd be hard pressed to figure it out. I've handled a few first release figures from other companies in the past and they have been a lot less polished. I have a lot of faith in future figure releases from FEXT Hobby if this is their starting point.

Pros/Cons

(+) Excellent design and features especially for a first release
(+) A really fun and unique original character with a unique gimmick
(+) Opens the door to more releases from FEXT Hobby in the same storyline/universe
(+) Bright fun colors and an absolute plethora of accessories that can be utilized by any of your existing 1/12 collection
(+) Included vehicle that is also cross compatible with other lines
(+) Overall great materials and build quality as well as great articulation
(+) Great value for money

(-) Naqua is an unknown character, with no existing media, TV show, Game etc to draw you in. This isn't an issue with the product, so much as a hurdle to overcome to bring in new fans.
(-) The adjustable eyes can be unreliable, sometimes they move when posing the figure, leading to comical or horrifying expressions. A better option would be multiple faceplates with pre-set expressions or eye plates, like Figma uses. At the very least the tolerances need to be improved if this is the way future figures are to be designed.
(-) The black gripping hands are a bit tight, causing the paint to crack and peel from stretching them around the accessory grips.
(-) Interchangeable hand selection is inconsistent. More options, with duplicates in gloved/bare formats would be appreciated for future releases.
(-) The black paint on Naqua's legs is easily scratched off by the swap out armor pieces.
(-) Instructions for the motorcycle helmet were a bit unclear. The head should be inserted into the front of the helmet, not from the bottom as indicated in the instructions. Unfortunately I cracked the visor on mine as I was trying to force the connection in the method shown in the booklet.

Final Thoughts

For a first release 1/12 figure from FEXT Hobby; Naqua is exceptional if slightly flawed. Great materials, above average articulation, and so many accessories. The value is off the charts! She's a ton of fun to armor up and pose, and she mixes well with other lines despite some style differences.

There are some growing pains to be expected with a first release like this, such as the paint scuffing and the moveable eyes being a bit loose. If these issues are addressed and resolved in future releases I see no reason why FEXT Hobby can't be a main stay in the 1/12 figure collecting world. Their dioramas are already quite excellent, and this new 1/12 line could be another feather in their cap.
